The children have worked incredibly hard this week and they have produced some wonderful work.

In Literacy we have continued to ‘hook’ with the emotive animated film ‘Baboon on the Moon’. A story of a Baboon whose job it is to live on the moon and make sure the moon shines on the earth. The children wrote a set of instructions on ‘How to light up the moon’. I was very impressed with their use of time openers and use of bullet points to separate each step.

In maths this week we have been focussing on addition using numbered number lines to solve. Some children really impressed me by adding 2 digit and 1 digit numbers on an empty number line! We will be continuing working on addition next week.

Our star of the week is Sophia.  She was fabulous at re telling the events of the Great Fire of London and then impressed me today during ’Big Talk,’ orally giving instructions on how to light up the moon.  Sophia tried hard to use a wide range of time connectives to start her sentences. Well done Sophia!

Thank you to everyone who came along to watch our class assembly. I was very proud of them all as I am sure you were!

Please continue to keep reading at home with your children whenever possible and work on the targets given out at parents evening.  Please also make sure children bring book bags every day; PE kits MUST be in school on a Monday; spelling test is on a Thursday and library books are to be returned on a Thursday.

Have a lovely weekend!

Miss Cooke
