I can’t believe we only have 2 weeks left until we break up for Christmas. Time is flying by in school. KS1 have been incredibly busy practicing for the KS1 Christmas performance. Your child may have come home with a slip if they have a ‘dress up’ role in the performance. However Year 2 will be doing the majority of the acting roles.
In literacy we have continued to hook with the book ‘Toby and the Great fire’. The children did some fantastic big writes today, where they wrote an eye witness account as Toby during the Great Fire. I can’t wait to read them properly over the weekend. The children keep amazing with their passion for writing, it is really lovely to see. Next week we will be writing some Christmas poems.
In maths we have been using positional language. This has included following instructions and giving their own instructions using positional language. I was really impressed with all the children. They were using vocabulary such as above, under, next to, besides, in between, in front, behind. Next week in maths we will be focusing on fractions. Children will be finding wholes, halves and quarters of shapes.
This week is Gold Book Awards for the Autumn term. I chose Lilly Anna for fantastic progress and effort in her writing; Xavier for fantastic effort in maths and Eve amazing writing and achieving her writing target.
Please continue to keep reading at home with your children whenever possible and practicing spellings. Please also make sure children bring book bags every day; PE kits MUST be in school on a Monday; spelling test is on a Thursday and library books are to be returned on a Thursday.
Have a great weekend!
