This week has flown by and we only have 1 week left until we break up for Christmas. This week KS1 have been perfecting the KS1 Christmas performance and we did a great dress rehearsal this morning for the rest of the school. The performance will take place next Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. Please return your slip should you require a ticket. Please can you make sure that children have costumes in school on Monday.
In literacy we have been focusing upon ‘Christmas’. Today the children have written some fantastic Christmas poems. I was so proud of all the children. They are all trying so hard with their writing and using super vocabulary to describe! We will share some of the poems on our blog next week. We will continue with our Christmas theme next week.
In maths we have been focusing on fractions. Children have been finding wholes, halves and quarters of shapes. They have also had a go at writing fractions.
This week’s Star of the Week is Stathi for fantastic effort in his writing. Stathi wrote his best piece of writing since he has been in Year 1. He wrote an amazing independent eye witness account of the Great Fire of London. He used great choices of vocabulary and really tried hard to sound out his words.
Please continue to keep reading at home with your children whenever possible and practicing spellings. Please also make sure children bring book bags every day; PE kits MUST be in school on a Monday; spelling test is on a Thursday. Please can I ask you to send a plastic bag in with your child next Thursday so we can send home things from trays, Christmas cards etc..
Have a great weekend!
